Nice Jugs!

I don't know about you, but I can't resist a nice jug. As Dorcas says in Larkrise to Candleford, "they are my one weakness".
After finding a lovely glass jug (perfect for Pimms!) for £2 in the charity shop the other day, I decided to gather up my ever increasing collection to see how much I already had. (they are deceptively dotted around the house in various locations in the hope that Danny won't notice any new additions, and instigate a jug ban!)

As you can see, there seems to be a blue theme.

Then the next day, at my first car boot sale of the year, this beauty caught my eye. I clocked it as soon as I arrived, but since I had recently discoverd how many jugs I actually had, I managed to refrain myself. Only when we had finished going round, and mum and I where making our way back to the car did I give in, and for the grand total of £1, I'm so glad I bought it love it more each day, it's lovely colour and the bow is so pretty!

So in the spirit of 'Jug Love' I'm having a giveaway, in which you can win this pretty little miniature one (below), along with a few other little surprises I can lay my hands on. All you need to do is leave a comment by next sunday (9th) and the winner will picked at random and announced on the monday.

P.S. I hope you all had a lovely Mother's day! I did, I got a homemade card from Ella, and we went to Mum and Dad's for sunday lunch where we had Jamie's slow cooked lamb, and a Victoria sponge sandwiched with rasberry jam, fresh rasberries, and double cream made by me and inspired by the one Kelly made for her hubby's birthday.

  1. Ha, ha! Love the fact that I am - no excuse the pun - a massive fan of jugs!! Mine are mostly cream or floral but I just cannot resist buying them. I convince myself that they'll be just the thing for filling with homemade lemonade or bunches of garden flowers, but in reality most sit on my dresser - but looking very pretty all the same.

P.S. And another Lark Rise to Candleford fan, hurrah! I positively swooned over the new teacher last night - be still my beating heart!

  2. Sorry Jess I meant to say how pretty your blue jugs are - how rude to forget! I really like the small round shape one and I've seen a tea set very similar in a charity shop, I may just have to snap it up. The more I read your lovely blog the more I find myself coveting blue things (a colour I don't usually go for, I'm a bit more pink and green) although I so love blue, it reminds me of my favourite place - Cornwall!
You've got some lovely things Jess. Bye again

  8. Your new jug is really pretty, I love the bow on the back - Believe it or not, I don't own a jug! - I made myself a pot of tea on Sunday (rather than just a cup) and then realised I didn't have a milk jug, so I had to keep going downstairs to top up my cup with milk! - I'm quite new to the thrifting game, but it will definitely be something I look out for when the car boot sales start up again

  11. Hi. I just had to drop you a line because you have made me aware of how much of a collector of jugs I am too. My collection, though, is rather more eclectic, containing all manner of jugs, new, old, tin, painted, chookie, etc. I so love your new jug with the bow. A friend once told me to buy the things you love and even if they don't match or haven't a space at the moment they go together to make the picture that is uniquely you! So enjoy! Cherrie

  14. I had to smile at the idea of you hiding those little jugs around the house! I just love that latest edition that you bought at the car boot sale.

How can a girl resist a cute jug? I bought a Christmas-themed poinsettia jug last week for less than $1.00 (about 50p).

  19. I don't know how you could have walked past that jug in the first place - so pretty!

I never have enough jugs, or at least a jug to fit the purpose anyway, so a new addition would be very welcome!

    Mother's day sounds delicious!

Thank you so much for making the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate every one (even if I don't manage to reply to them all - I tend to get sidetracked quite easily) and it always brings a little smile to my face when I discover one in my inbox.
